He is on there for hours, he also can't ride it in the backyard, he has to ride it on the road, and can't ride without his helmet which I also purchased from the same garage sale for .50 cents. He can just barely touch the pedals but he can still motor on it pretty fast! He met a little boy who lives across the street who is three, they switch bikes and ride together for hours.

Huxley has changed so much the last few months. He has popped out two teeth, started crawling and can go from laying to sitting up all by himself. He has also started eating real food, he packs it away! He also fully enjoyed his fair share of sand, grass and pinecones!

We spent many days and evenings at the beach with friends, celebrating birthdays, new babies, and spending time with family. The boys spent many weekends at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Kelowna, and many days with Grandma and "Papa" we even made a trip with Uncle Caleb to Vancouver so Huxley could meet Uncle Elliott, although it wasn't the best trip it was certainly a memorable one :)
Jaxon is growing like crazy and has a mouthful of teeth (which he isn't afraid to use on Huxley!) Huxley to is growing at a rapid pace, this child is so long I put him in a twelve month sleeper the other day! He is also trying very hard to crawl when we lay him on his belly, he can get his knees up, but then gets frustrated and lays back down. He is also going to be an Olympic luge athelete, he gets his head right up and his legs right up almost in a pike position. It is so cute to watch him, he is so determined to move!

In general Jaxon is really good with Huxley, although he has his moments. Huxley has been hit on the head by Jaxon's hand, a coat hanger, and a tea light candle holder. Huxley was sitting in his bumbo on the table and Jaxon climbed up onto the table just to hit him, and last week he bit Hux's cheek :( so the sibling rivalary begins! Then 90% of the time Jaxon is so good, he will bring Huxley his bottle when he's crying, or if Hux drops a toy Jaxon will pick it up and give it to him, or sometimes Jaxon will just give Hux his Elmo to suck on. When I'm loading the kids in the car, Jaxon will try to pick up Hux's carseat telling me, Huckey, Huckey. So I guess there is hope for the two of them yet!Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-35206293738357744102012-04-10T21:56:00.001-07:002012-04-10T22:00:06.400-07:00A Proper IntroductionLooking back through my posts, it has mainly been about Jaxon, and I noticed that I hadn't properly introduced Huxley, so here is a little bit about my new little man :)

Huxley Edward Quinn Hartney, was born on Janurary 3, 2012 at 8:29am, by C-Section. The section was planned so no surprises, however I was quite sick and fainted right before I was supposed to go into the operating room. I honestly don't remember much, I remember the Doctor asking me if I wanted to see my baby and I said yes, but I don't remember actually doing so.

Huxley's name came to me before I was pregnant with him, and when a girlfriend had posted the name on Facebook as a potential for her little boy, it stuck with me. I facebooked her to ask if she was going to use Huxley and she said no so it was meant to be. Edward is Scott's grandfather's name as well as one of his middle names, and Quinn is my youngest brother Caleb's middle name. So both of our boys have one of my brother's names and both of Scott's grandfather's names, which are also both of Scott's middle names-ugh mouthfull! They both have good family names.

Huxley was 53cm long and weighed 7.9lbs, bigger than Jaxon is both ways but so thin, whereas Jaxon was built like a tank from day one! Huxley has fair skin, and hair and bright blue eyes, whereas Jaxon has dark hair and eyes. They don't really look alike, but do, if that makes sense. When he was born he had trouble reaching normal temperature so for the first day he was wrapped up tight and placed on a heating bed, by the next morning he had reached 36, but he still gets cold really fast and doesn't like it, he likes to be warm, wrapped up in blankets.
He is now three months old and he has the biggest smile, it lights up his whole face, he is super strong always wanting to stand, and has been sitting in the bumbo for about a month now. He sleeps through the night-amen! Loves the water just like his brother, and can eat. He really has added so much to our family, in a time that was quite dark and for that I am so greatful.facebook.comSamanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-19848363594282156242012-04-07T19:40:00.001-07:002012-04-07T19:45:18.854-07:00Easter

Today Jaxon, Huxley, Scott, Mum, Auntie Lisen and I made our way to Memorial Park, for Jaxon's first Easter Egg hunt. Jaxon got his egg that was dropped from a bucket truck and we made our way to get our prize, however it didn't work like that! Although a little confusing at the beginining we were soon told that our eggs helped put us in different line ups for crafts and then they would be calling the numbers on the eggs later for a prize. So Jaxon painted a bag for craft, and looked for eggs in the hay, he found one all by himself! We then made our way to the stage to get our prize but our number didn't get called, so we made our way to the park and played for a little bit. As we were about to go home, we noticed people lining up and exchanging their eggs for candy, so we filled our bag with candy and headed home. Huxley was all smiles but Jaxon was pooped and fell asleep in the wagon. Good first egg hunt!
A few things that are happening in our house hold (that is probably the best thing ever to happen!) is Jaxon is pooping on the potty! The first time I sat him on there he pooped, I think I scared him with all my over the top praise I heaped on him but I think I was in shock! I was so proud, and now I ask him if he needs to go and he will lift up his shirt, then look at his belly then to me and say uh-oh and that is my queue to get him upstairs asap!

I along with Auntie Brittney took the boys Jaxon and Huxley as well as two other cuties to the swimming pool. This was Huxley's first time in the pool and he was so great, he smiled and kicked his legs it was heartwarming. He was wearing the same wetsuit that Jaxon used to wear, it really made me stop and reflect on how much Jaxon has grown and developed his own personality since he wore that little suit, and how much Huxley will grow and change in the next few months.

There are so many firsts that I will never get back with Jaxon and so many more to come with him and Hux. It makes me so proud that I get to experience all their firsts with them and how blessed I truly am that I am shaping this little human being. I never thought I would be so excited to see poop in toliet, but I have to say it was one of my proudest moments! ;)

I went from one babee to two babees! Another beautiful boy came into our lives on January 3rd of this year. Huxley Edward Quinn Hartney, weighing a healthy 7lbs 91/2 ounces and measuring 53 cm. Huxley weighed and was longer than Jaxon, but he was so small, very long and very thin, whereas Jaxon was a tank....and still is!

Huxley is now ten weeks old, and going from one to two is total chaos! At the end of the day when I put my head on my pillow, I can't believe we made it through another day!

The boys have been the best thing I have ever done, and although its chaos most of the time, they both make me laugh everyday and bring nothing but blessings to my life.

He will be 10 months on the 9th of the month, I'm already trying to think of what to do for his first birthday. Jaxon is such a happy boy, he rarely cries, he sleeps, and he is a great eater! He went for a check up a few weeks ago and he weighs 24 pounds, he is 27 inches long. He is eating all the same things I am and refuses to eat baby food, he has 2 bottom teeth and hes pushing 2 top ones out. He is moving around and can never sit still, he has even pulled himself up a few times. My brother was out for a visit this weekend with some friends and its so neat to see Jaxon studying them, acknowledging them when they came in the room. He's very aware of who Scott is "dada" and myself "nana" he only says "mama" when hes upset, he knows who grandma is. He knows what tub tub means (bath time) and seepy time (bed time!) breakfast and dinner time, puffies (they are his fave snack!) Everyday he is learning something new, its so amazing to watch him grow. Last week he learnt to head bang from Daddy! Stick his tongue out from Mummy, and wave, so much fun! I love that right now he is an only child, and I can spend all my time with just him, but I'm also so excited to see him as a big brother in January when the new little one comes. I wish I had camera's set up all over my house so I could record every amazing and magical moment!Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-45673676510799697002011-04-11T20:51:00.000-07:002011-04-11T20:51:00.398-07:00Solid Foods Yay!
Jaxon has started eating solid foods! Scott and I get such a kick out of watching him eat. So far he has had carrots, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, green beans and peas, which surprisinly his favorite. He loves his food so much that I am literally shoveling it into his mouth because I can't get it in there fast enough! He started eating solids about three weeks ago, and he was just at 17lbs, I weighed him today and he is almost 18lbs! My little tub of chub!

How do Mum's work, manage a home, and take care of a new baby? How do they juggle it all? I'm having a hard enough time finding a babysitter! Before I was pregnant, Scott spent hours and hours building me a gym, to us it was "perfect." As my pregnancy progressed, the sicker I became and after a few short months of Atmosphere being open we closed the doors. Now that Jaxon is here, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about the gym. I want to get back into training but I don't know where to start, I feel like the day is barely long enough for me to do what I need to do to keep everyone going. People ask me if I'm going to have another baby, I wouldn't know what to do with two! How do you find balance, and I mean real balance, not going to work, taking care of the house, looking after babe, wanting to rip your hair out, and crashing at 7:00 balance. I mean real balance or is there such a thing? Maybe it's early days for me yet and I'll eventually figure it out. One thing is for sure though, I love this little boy of mine, and even if I never find the balance I am looking for, there is nothing better than having a happy, healthy little boy at home to snuggle with everyday!Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-83118143447902449402011-02-24T15:27:00.000-08:002011-02-24T15:27:58.187-08:00A Big First
I touched on here the last time about firsts and Jaxon had a big first last weekend. He met his big brother Madix! We were all very excited for Madix to come out here, it was his first visit to our home, first visit with Scott alone, and the first time he would meet Jaxon. We tried to make Madix feel as comfortable as we could, we didn't want any jealousy going on! I'm happy to report there was no jealousy whatsoever from Madix, he went right into the role of big brother, and he took that role very seriously. Everytime Jaxon would cry, Madix would tell us that his brother needed him, even if they weren't in the same room, Madix would come running out "my brother needs me." Jaxon would just watch him and smile, or coo, it was very cute to see them interact. I would also like to say that this was also Jaxon's first time meeting his Grandpa and Grandma Hartney, it made me happy to see Jax getting so many snuggles! He wasn't at a loss for attention!

Madix and Jaxon Daddy with his 2 boys!
Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-83515015477958664452011-02-03T11:58:00.000-08:002011-02-03T11:58:31.004-08:00Firsts

Last week Jaxon went swimming at the pool for the first time! He was so cute in his little swimmers and Ghostbuster speedo, that was passed down from his Uncle Elliott. He was great in the water, he didn't like to be on his back, he was more content to be on his belly drinking the water :s. It started me thinking on all the firsts that are to come for him, first step, tooth, haircut, learning to ride his bike, first day at school, first love, heartbreak, etc, it also made me think back to all my firsts. Some of them I can remember, some of them I'd like to forget and some I don't have any recolection of whatsoever, but mostly I just became very excited. What an amazing honor it is to take part in another human being's life so intimately with no other goal but to make all their memories happy ones! I picked him up around 11:00am and the screaming began and it lasted until today, so off again Jax went to Grandma Ann's so I could regain my sanity, the little of it I had left! I find it very hard not to let my guilt take over and keep him with me even though I could scream with him, but at the end of the day I know I'm a better Mum for letting him go.

Why is it that we Mum's allow the guilt to take over? Why do we know in our heads that its the best thing to do for babe and ourselves, but our hearts rip apart everytime we do it? Eleven weeks ago he was not here, albeit he was in my belly, but I was still mostly a single person, with the days being mine, my thoughts about me, what I want to accomplish in the years to come, to all of a sudden being a Mum with a little person who takes over my days, whose dreams consume my thoughts, to all the things I want him to accomplish. I find it so amazing that all of a sudden how unselfish you become, everything is about them.

When I give him up for a couple hours, there is nothing that makes me as happy as when I go to pick him up, and see him at peace; then I'm at peace, I can continue on, I can be what he needs me to be.

Sometimes a break is all I need, however short or long it may be.Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-6227150663611651682011-01-16T13:18:00.000-08:002011-01-16T13:18:41.337-08:0010 Weeks Already!I have officially been a Mum for 10 weeks this Tuesday! Time flies by so fast, if only the pregnancy would of gone by this fast I might consider doing it again! My little guy was born November 9th 2010 at 8:05am, he weighed 7lbs, 2 ounces and was 20.5 inches long, with crazy dark brown hair and blue eyes. He now weighs 11.10lbs and he's 25 inches long!

I have to say I've been blessed by the sleeping gods, he sleeps for atleast a six hour stretch, up for a short feed and then back to bed. Not to say it's been all apples and pears or whatever that saying is! We have had our share of nights up trying to rock him to sleep, we've been puked on, pooped on and peed on, but it's been great.

I too have felt the guilt of a new Mum, not breastfeeding, leaving him with someone else, going back to work. But all in all the whole Mum thing is amazing, I'm part of the club and I love it!
Three more days and I will officially be holding a little boy in my arms, I will officially be a Mum. All the stress, anxiety, excitement, anticipation all comes to an end, and then all the stress, anxiety, excitement, and anticipation will start all over again. Will I be a good mum, will I know what to do, will he be happy, healthy, successful, and all the other traits you want your child to have? Will I be able to make a difference in the world by raising this boy with morals and values? Thats a lot of pressure, its a big job, but one I'm willing to take on. Considering I thought I would never be a Mum it is also a job I'm honored to do. So hopefully the next time I write, I'll be typing with one hand and holding a babe in the other!Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-21102442745033126382010-10-10T19:17:00.000-07:002010-10-10T19:17:33.217-07:00I might be carrying an extra 30lbs, but I can still hike up that mountain! As a Personal Trainer exercise has been very important to me, infact after I miscarried it was the only thing that seemed to make me happy. During my current pregnancy, the first 3 months I was sick everyday, but still I continued to lift weights. After the first trimester I just couldn't do it anymore, I wanted to sleep! When I first got pregnant I was determined and had even convinced myself, that I was still going to out everyday, but my body had other plans, and I listened, I slept when I needed to, ate when I needed to and went for walks when I needed too. Although I haven't worked out for 6 months, I definatly think it has helped me through this pregnancy process, and today I even hiked up Giants Head Mountain! Although I did it a little slower than before! Just because your body can't do what it used to do before baby, don't be disappointed, stay as healthy as you can and enjoy planning your new workout plan for after baby comes! I'm excited to work out with the little one strapped to me in a baby carrier!Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-25097654392853578732010-10-02T14:55:00.000-07:002010-10-02T14:55:50.379-07:00Nesting, Nesting and NestingAre you ever really ready for baby to come? Crib check, change table check, clothes check. I find I spend my days organizing baskets, and then reorganizing baskets. I have his bath basket ready in the main bathroom, and his bathroom drawer ready in our bathroom, I have diapers and creams ready in his room, I've organized his clothes biggest to smallest, short sleeve to long sleeve, washed all his bottles and soothers. I feel my house is ready to welcome this little one, but I don't feel ready yet, but then again are you ever really ready. Only 39 days to go!Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3443834312426692591.post-3934589532534714872010-09-29T14:30:00.000-07:002010-09-29T14:30:01.950-07:00The Anticipation Continues....<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Thank you for reading my first blog! I've always been interested in writing a blog, just never thought I had anything to exciting to write about, but now however I think becoming a first time Mum is a little interesting. I'm officially 33 weeks along now, with my first child, a little boy, who I can't wait to meet. Becoming a Mum is such an amazing thing, and in all honesty I never thought I would be the kind of women who would be interested in rhyme time, baby swim lessons, and baby talk classes, but I find myself so excited I wish I could sign up right now! I look forward to meeting other Mums that I thought were snobs in their own little clique before, I want to be that Mum who pushes the stroller with five other Mum's behind me! I'm new at this, so new that I haven't even met my baby yet, and everyday I learn something new, I hope this blog becomes a place where other Mum's can share stories, and connect with eachother. I'm excited to see where this blog will go!Samanthahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610921578016571840noreply@blogger.com0
